![]() Im giving it 7.5 rubber chickens.Available on: Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (Reviewed on PlayStation 3)Īnother week in GiaG Towers, another high end fighting game finds its way into my mighty paws. I can appreciate theres a huge amount of depth here for serious Street Fighter fans but its not as accessible as I would have liked. For me it takes the best elements of Street Fighter IV and adds in the new tag-team play and absolutely amazing super moves. Capcom 3 would have gone a long way for me. A simple controls mode like the one in Marvel vs. Im disappointed Capcom hasn't updated the ancient six-button controls to a more console-friendly four-button scheme. ![]() Speaking as the resident Street Fighter noob, I was a bit put off by how difficult this game is. Dont expect to see noob-friendly features like automatically tagging in your second fighter after the first one is defeated. The way rounds now end instantly when either one of your fighters is KOd is a Tekken Tag Tournament feature. I did observe some Tekken influences present in this game, however. It will feature the same character mash-up, but instead be built with Tekkens 3D gameplay. If youre a Tekken fan, like me, youll need to wait for the upcoming Tekken X Street Fighter. I've always found Tekken a bit of a slow fighter to best honest, and liked Street Fighter a bit more so this was a good choice I think. I was happy with how the Tekken fighters play though. So it plays more like a Street Fighter game with Tekken fighters in it, rather than a serious mix of both. Well, this game was made by the Street Fighter developers. Bajo, how did you find the mix of Tekken and Street Fighter combat styles? Theres also a Scramble mode where all four players are fighting at once, but it felt a bit too crowded. Being able to tag in one of your friends as your partner makes perfect sense and its a lot of fun. The new four-player mode was a real surprise. Theres no denying this game packs a lot in. You can even bring both fighters out at once, and unleash two-against-one unfair awesomeness. For the ultimate punishment, I recommend tagging your partner in mid-combo. You can switch between fighters at any time. The game really embraces its new two-fighter tag system. These extra guys are only in the PS3 version though, so dont look for them on Xbox. And there are handful of bonus characters like Mega Man and Pac-Man. The games got a huge roster of fighters from both games. Street Fighter X Tekken keeps the anime look and basic moves from Street Fighter IV, but it also injects a lot of new twists in. Tekkens control method was also unique, using a different button to move each limb of your fighter. It was one of the first fighting games to feature true 3D movement. Meanwhile, Tekkens superior legacy began in 1994. Street Fighter famously introduced six-button combat and special moves such as fireballs, called Hadoukens. But it wasnt until Street Fighter II in 1991 that the series achieved its blockbuster status. The first Street Fighter game came out 25 years ago. and theres some serious history at play with Street Fighter X Tekken.Īffirmative, Hex. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games for example. Yoshimitsus special move is getting dizzy and falling over.īig-name game mash-ups are nothing new in the world of gaming. His laser sword conquers all the puny street fighters! Negative! Everyone knows Tekken's robot Yoshimitsu is the ultimate fighter. Its so much fun watching Ryu and Ken K.O. So Ive been busting to see how Street Fighter X Tekken plays out. ![]()
